What We Believe

SDCF Members' Statement of Faith

Bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s authoritative word. Consisting of sixty-six books, it is inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error.

God

We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God who is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, who created and sustains the universe, revealed himself to mankind through Jesus, who is one hundred percent God and one hundred percent human. He alone is to be worshipped in spirit (without images) and in truth (without the influence of contrary traditions).

Salvation

We believe all people are sinners and deserve hell. Each person must repent – which is to have sorrow for his sins, to confess his sins, and to commit to leave sin. Each person must also believe in who Jesus is (he is God), what Jesus did (he paid for our sins through his death and resurrection), and what he promised to those who believe (that he will grant eternal life). God’s word grants the assurance of salvation to genuine believers. In addition, the evidence of a changed life provides the reassurance of genuine conversion.

Changes

We believe that in Christ, each believer is born again. This is our core change – when our dead spirits were made alive. At conversion, each believer has immediate and complete status changes: being adopted as a child of God, being reconciled to become God’s friend, and being justified with the righteousness of Christ. As a new creation, each believer is called to live a life of increasing holiness by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Future

We believe that Jesus will return bodily and visibly. This fills us with hope that nothing is in vain. At the end of time, there will be a physical resurrection or translation of all humanity, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.
