Overview

San Diego Christian Fellowship is a multi-congregational, multi-ethnic church in San Diego County, CA.  SDCF has three congregations serving San Diego County: The North Congregation and The Filipino Congregation located in the neighborhood of Kearny Mesa, and the South Congregation located in the city of Chula Vista.  SDCF is eager to call a pastor to serve as the Congregational Pastor of its South congregation in anticipation of the retirement of their current South Congregational Pastor.  This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced pastor to continue the work of shepherding and developing a healthy congregation of committed church leaders and volunteers in their mission to see others refreshed in Christ.

    About: SDCF South is a warm, enthusiastic, multi-generational congregation of people from a predominantly Filipino-American heritage.  The SDCF South campus has a newly-remodeled sanctuary space that seats about 250 people, educational spaces, a fellowship hall, children’s ministry rooms, kitchen, church offices, and a historic chapel built in 1889. The congregation has Children’s Sunday School and Adult Bible Classes that meet Sundays at 9AM and worship is at 10:15AM.  There are Life Groups that meet in homes throughout the week and a youth group that meets weekly.  The congregation is shepherded by one other lay elder, and 3 deacons that administrate its financial, clerical, and facility needs.  A team of dedicated volunteer leaders coordinate the other ministries of the congregation.

  • The Candidate

    The right Congregational Pastor will be strongly committed to the expositional teaching of God’s Word and to the shepherding of his congregants in all areas of life.  This pastor will be deeply committed to pastoral care, systematic and intentional discipleship in line with the vision of the church, and an enthusiastic desire to raise and develop leaders to serve in the ministries of the congregation.  The ideal candidate will be naturally warm and relational, and will be experienced in multi-cultural ministry, especially to those from a Filipino-American and even to those from a Hispanic background.  He will be diligent to oversee and steward the physical property of the church campus and will work to expand the church’s outreach to attenders’ existing relationships and spheres of influence.  This pastor will look forward to working in close collaboration with his fellow congregational pastors from the North and Filipino congregations and will operate under the direction of SDCF’s Lead Pastor.  

  • The Location

    The City of Chula Vista is the second largest city in San Diego County with a population of 275,487 as of the 2020 census.  The SDCF South campus is located in West Chula Vista, an area once known for orange groves, which is now populated by neighborhoods.  Most of SDCF South’s congregants live in the new housing developments of East Chula Vista.  The SDCF South campus is known for its historic Davis Chapel which was built in the late 1800’s and resides on the corner of 3rd and Zenith St.

  • The Qualifications

    Demonstrate a vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ; Elder qualified; A theological Master’s degree or higher is preferred; No less than five years of full-time Senior Pastor, Campus Pastor or equivalent experience; Theological agreement and support for the SDCF Leaders’ statement of faith Willingness to be ordained, and in relationship with Converge Southwest district leadership and local Converge pastors. Excellent Bible-based teaching and communication skills with a genuine passion to communicate the Gospel and help congregants live it out in daily life; Experience in innovating and growing ministries.
